This morning Scott and Wren just left for a little music class that they go to. It's a nice thing for Scott to have some Daddy time with Wren and I can have some alone time at home on a Saturday morning! It's a good thing to do over the winter especially. We're just starting it up again after the summer.
There is a big county fair here this week called the Grange Fair that has been going on for more than 100 years. It's an encampment fair, so that means there is a neighborhood of tents that gets set up and people stay all week! The tent spots have been passed down from generation to generation and there is a long waiting list for anyone new to get a spot (they never will!). Last year Wren and I went one day to the fair with a friend, and we'll probably go one day next week. I wanted to go yesterday for the baked goods auction, but it was pouring down rain and Wren was napping, so... that didn't happen. Let's keep our fingers crossed I'll make next year's auction! :)
A few days ago Wren flipped right out of his crib, over the rail while he was laughing -- I was standing there right with him! It scared me half to death. He landed on his face and he had blood in his mouth and was screaming and his neck bent back at a bad-looking angle. He was totally fine, though. Just a little cut in his mouth where his lip meets his gum and his nose is all scuffed up now. We took him to the doctor and had him all checked over and the dr said he looked great. Wren recovered after 5 or 10 minutes but really it took me a few hours to recover! It was so scary looking. And Scott had some scary moments in his office too because when it happened, Wren and I were talking on the phone with him! I had to hang up quickly and call him back.
So anyway, we put together a little toddler bed we bought for him a while back and tried to get him to sleep in it yesterday at naptime and at bedtime but he was more into getting up and playing so we eventually put him in the crib (and he fell right asleep), but we're going to have to stick with it and get him to sleep in his bed. It's a cute little bed and Wren thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. He was pretty funny during naptime -- he'd lay quietly for a few minutes and then I'd hear him thumping around and doing things and I'd open the door and he'd run back to his bed, lay down with his fingers in his mouth, and say "all done!" while pointing to the floor, like he was 'all done playing out of bed'. I'd tell him to lay down and go to sleep and look at him as I'd close the door and he was watching me like he was just going to jump up as soon as I closed the door. It was pretty silly. Funny to think that he thinks I have no idea he's up when he's making all kinds of noise in there with his toys! At night he kept playing peek-a-boo out his door with Daddy and just thought it was hilarious. We'll see when he settles down to actually use the bed! I do think he's doing pretty well though because at least Wren does get the idea that he's supposed to lay down and sleep on it.

Yay, Wren! What a nice new bed! I hope that bedtime goes more smoothly as the novelty wears off a little. What an exciting time!
