updates

Here are some updates on what Wren is currently doing! He is sitting up really well by himself lately. He can play and look around and have fun sitting up without falling over for quite a while. Because of this, we started giving him a bath in the regular bathtub. He seems to like it just fine!

Wren is eating solids three times a day. He's been through lots of fruits and vegetables and eats rice, oat, and barley cereals. His faves are carrots, peaches, and sweet potatoes. He'll probably turn orange soon! I feel like all I'm doing lately is feeding him! It takes a while to feed him but he has fun and makes a small mess on himself and his bib and his tray. Here's Wren (pre-mess) eating some butternut squash:

Wren also still likes drinking out of a cup and can drink out of his sippy cup too!

Just this past week, Wren has started doing the "milk" sign! We have been doing some of the baby signs with him -- starting with "eat", "more", "milk", "cat", and "drink". It is amazing to realize that he's doing the milk sign when he wants to nurse!

Wren has been saying "mamamamama" for a while now, and is just starting to throw in a "ba" or a "la" every once in a while. He is on a good routine during the day with a nap in the morning and a nap in the afternoon, and then goes to sleep and wakes up around the same times each day, but lately there's no telling when or how many times he will wake in the night, and whether or not he'll fall back asleep without intervention. Wren is such a wonderful joy to have with us! We are just constantly saying how fun and cute and adorable he is. It's fun for me to be with him all day (and take lots of pictures of him all day!).

We have all been keeping busy. I have been meeting people through my pilates class and through some moms' groups in the area, and Scott and I have gotten together with some of his colleagues at Penn State. I am also taking a cake decorating class which requires a little extra time, but is fun! Check out the first cake I made!

We just enjoyed our Thanksgiving holiday with Scott on vacation from school for the week and with family in town. Now we're looking forward to Christmas break! We'll be driving to Missouri over two days. We're hoping this drive is uneventful! We're planning on giving Wren his Christmas presents from us along the way, just to keep things interesting for him.

Ummm what else? I just wanted to get the basics down here so you knew what was going on with us. We still like State College. We are going to start looking for a house this weekend! This seems like a good time to buy a house, so hopefully we'll find something wonderful that we love. We're excited about looking! We think it will be fun. And guess what? We're tired of renting! :)

I could also write about Scott's classes and how well they're going... but he could write about that himself, don't you think? :) Hopefully you'll hear from him soon. But basically his two classes are going well, and Scott enjoys doing some of his own scholarship when he can squeeze it in.

So write me and tell me what you are doing. Or call me on the phone! I would love to talk with you. I also check my real, physical mailbox every day, just hoping for a letter from YOU!

Oh Emily, you are funny. A loooong time ago I took a cake decorating class and it was FUN! Your first cake is beautiful. And I was wondering, do you make your own baby food? Happy house hunting! It I didn't already own a house (that I would also have to sell) I would be looking for one too! This is a buyers market.

Hey Em, your first cake looks GREAT! And tasty! And the pics of Wren are sooo cute! Also, you should tell Scott that he *has* to post something when classes are out. Or ELSE!
