happy 6 months, wren!

Today Wren is 6 months old. It seems hard to believe he's already half a year old! Lately he's really been grabbing for food and drinks at the table, and is into exploring all sorts of things. Today instead of looking in the mirror in the bathroom, he kept looking at his basket of bath toys (which we haven't really used because he hasn't been interested; they're just sitting out looking cute). So he sat up in between my legs and we explored each item in the basket and then the basket itself. It was very fun and interesting to him!

We also took a little nature walk today to look at the fall foliage. Wren got up close to some small trees and held some leaves and the tree trunks. He touched a pine tree that felt kind of like Daddy's beard.



Wren is just getting over his first cold. He did pretty well, all considered. Just woke up a lot the first night with congestion. He really hates to have his nose squeegeed and/or drops put in, of course. But overall he's still been happy and okay, just cries when we deal with his nose. A vaporizer in his room seems to help, too.


We also got Wren a little plastic Spiderman cup that he LOVES to drink water out of! He gets very excited when he sees it and pulls it towards him. He is very good at drinking out of it.

Wren has been eating some solid foods. So far, rice cereal, bananas, carrots (his favorite so far), avocado (he just opens his mouth with this on his tongue like "what do I do with this?"), baby oatmeal (he makes a yucky face and kind of spits it back out, but will eat it mixed cleverly with bananas or carrots), and today he just tried a tiny bit of green beans and made the yuckiest face so far. :) But he didn't feel like eating, so we'll keep on trying that one. I just started making some baby food -- just green beans and apples so far. The green beans seem kind of weird pureed, but the apples smelled and tasted wonderful!

Hmm, which bib shall I use today?
